Cal Coast was formed in 1984 by Edward J. Miller to serve as the parent company for all of the other real estate development companies operated by Mr. Miller. By centralizing administration, project management and financing functions, yet segregating distinct types of developments, such as residential and commercial Cal Coast has been able achieve significant economies of scale. For more than 30 years, Mr. Miller has served as a principal owner and/or developer for numerous high profile projects within Southern California with capitalized values in excess of $1B for residential projects and $750M for commercial projects. Mr. Miller has received numerous awards and commendations for his developments.
Mr. Miller began his development career as an economic development specialist with the City of St. Paul, Minnesota after graduating from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. This was followed by employment with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Services in commercial leasing and investment property sales. He next joined Carley Pacific in 1982 as the Vice President of Development and within two years acquired a substantial equity position in the company becoming Chief Executive Officer. Carley Pacific subsequently merged with Cal-Coast with Mr. Miller as the CEO.
